The Space
With an intent to encourage the appreciation of the arts in India, The Raiaskaran Art Foundation led by Mr Shobhit J. Rajan and Mr Yuvraj S. Rajan was brought to fruition. They envisaged an idea wherein an Experiential Art Gallery would intrigue and welcome people across the board to interact with works of art from around the world.
With this aim, the gallery was commissioned to PS Designs & Sunday Whites, and The Space was created.
Home to art collected over the years and curated specifically for the collection, The Space is finished in Corten steel and is designed as an experiential maze.
The concept behind the design and development was to create an expanse derived from the very basal human characteristic – The Human Thumb Impression. Dermatoglyphics, commonly known as the study of Fingerprints gives us an insight into Nature’s characteristic indicators. Usually, the human personality can be categorized into EIGHT different styles of Fingerprints – each style depicting a particular personality trait. Of these eight distinct styles, four traits are positive and four negative.
Following are the Four positive personality traits:

BALANCE

FREEDOM

ORIGINALITY

FOCUS
The four shapes were studied as DESIGN PATTERNS and MAPPED the juxtaposed pattern onto the ceiling plate of the entire Lobby. At which point the energy is transferred onto the floor via giant columns with Radial Louvers, giving an effect of the fingerprint pattern being channelized onto the ground. The idea was to welcome a user inside under the sky of positive personality traits. The fingerprinted wooden slats on the ceiling and wooden louvres on the columns and the side walls assure a brilliant acoustical tightness.
The Space at Raiaskaran Tech Park is home to eminent works of art by the stalwarts of the art realm, such as Subodh Gupta (27 Light Years), Jitish Kallat (Eruda 2006), KS Radhakrishnan (The Ramp), MF Hussain, Satish Gujral, Anwar Khan, etc.
The Space will continue to grow organically and host a variety of events and exhibitions to further the base ideology of spreading art and culture to all.
